Merbau verandah replacement
An old deck past its service life, replaced rather than re-coated — Merbau hardwood with mitred board joins to keep water out of the end grain.
Timber decks don't fail overnight. Most reach a point where sanding and oiling won't fix the real issues underneath.
In this case the existing deck was past its service life, so we replaced it with Merbau hardwood — a dense, durable timber well suited to Queensland conditions when installed correctly.
We also used mitred board joins, which reduce exposed end grain, improve drainage and create a cleaner finish that lasts longer.
If your deck is moving, splintering or constantly needing repairs, replacement is often the safer and more cost-effective option long term.
