Merbau decking over rebuilt joists
Old decking and rotted joists replaced on a highset home, improving the structure as much as the look.
We replaced this old decking and the rotted joists at our client's home, improving both the structural integrity and the appearance with new Merbau decking.
Making sure your structure is safe is vital, especially on a highset home. Wood rot can be a huge issue in Queensland, with so much moisture in the air and high rainfall.
When looking for rot, search for spongy and discoloured wood that may flake off and fall apart when wet. A screwdriver will find soft spots. Anywhere timber contacts the ground is a likely problem area.
